Turn them OFF!

haha sigh. dance with me.

Be.

Your greatest power is the power to be.
To be more loving. To be more courageous.
To be more joyous. To be more friendly.
To be more sensitive. To be more aware.
To be more forgiving. To be more tolerant.
To be more humble. To be more patient.
To be more helpful.
To be a greater human being.

Wilfred A. Peterson

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Thought of the Day

[brought to you by ofasho]

A grand adventure

Don't back away from life just because it gets difficult. Instead, jump into it more fully.

Don't slow down just because the road upward becomes steep. Speed up and get that extra momentum to carry you forward.

There's no good reason to let the challenges get you down. Choose instead to be energized and motivated by them.

Life is a grand adventure. You wouldn't want it to come too easily.

You have all sorts of wonderful skills and abilities. Relish the opportunities to put them to the test and to make them even stronger.

Live with passion and purpose and the resolve to handle whatever may come your way. Never stop discovering how much more you're able to do.

sick and tired of being sick and tired

i find it interesting to observe people. who doesn't, right? but, what i want to focus on in this blog are people in the workplace. not just mine, but any place i've walked into. this could be the baristas at starbucks, the teller at the bank, the IT guy at an insurance company, the fisherman at the dock of the bay, or even a CEO of a major corporation. literally, anybody.

some are fortunate to land a career that they're great at, pays their bills, makes them happy, and provides great benefits. most of us find ourselves in jobs that serve to pass the time until we land the job that fits us best... hopefully. some of us get "stuck" in putting up with a job because we don't go an extra mile in finding a better job. so why don't we just go for the job we truly want? because we all know that this isn't a perfect world. so while we're in school or while we just graduated from school, we need that job that will pay the bills because, let's face it, we can't afford to not pay our bills.

so, why am i bringing this up? what triggered or ticked me off to even write about this? well, in the essence of writing and expressing opinions/feelings in this world of blogging as an online diary, i am doing just that.

so let's jump to another thought and let me just quote ms.hill, "how can something we used to love become something we loathe and grow to hate?" there are things in life that test us everyday. ignorant people, challenging situations, our job, our responsibilities, etc. yadda yadda yadda...can all or individually take us to the point where we question if we even want to be where we are at that particular moment.

have you ever looked around at the other people at work? not stalker-like, but just took a glance? do they look happy? do they look like they enjoy what they're doing? do they come to work in the morning with some pep in their step? or do they look like they just wish someone can just shoot them? does it look like they move like robots and work for the clock? punching in and out of work and taking the same lunch break at the same time everyday.

so think about it... "do you like what you do? do you like the people you work with? do you see yourself there for a long time?" and if your answer is no to any of those questions, what are you going to do about it?

to end this blog, i'll leave you with a "thought of the day" that a friend of mine e-mailed me...

Let life flow

Life will flow easily and gracefully when you simply allow it. Choose right now to simply allow it.

Allow the problems to come and then allow them to go just as quickly. Peacefully accept the disappointments and you'll have no trouble with peacefully letting them go.

Accept the joys without worrying about clinging to them. They will always be with you if you simply let them be.

Stop fighting against what is, and you'll clearly see how to make the most of it. Welcome each new experience and you'll quickly find the value it brings.

Leave the worries and anxieties behind, for they add nothing to your life. Be at peace, and you will feel the fullness of your power.

Allow the rich abundance to flow naturally and unhindered through your life. And delight in the fulfillment that is yours to create.

you know when...

you just set yourself up? moments where you just say to yourself "damn it! i KNEW that was gonna happen!", yet you still did whatever it was that made you tell yourself that? we tend to have that 5% of hope that just keeps us holding on but then it flies right on out the window once disappointment socks us in the face. i'm making no sense to you, but a whole bunch of sense to myself. yes, it's one of "those" blogs.

monica...

today, i found out my manager passed away last night. she had been fighting cancer for about 10 years and it won. though she was my boss, there were only 5 of us running the program (all women) and we didn't have to be close outside of work to be close at work. she wasn't the micro-managing type and she always had an open-mind. she had been out for a while, yet the rest of us kept the program running as if she was there. i always had it in my mind that she would come back because she's been absent before and came right on back like nothing happened. but i guess this time was different, way different. the last time i saw her was july 11th at her home in lake forest. every year the program has a retreat at her house during the summer to brainstorm our approach/plan for the upcoming school year. and i was sitting, thinking about her today...i never got to say goodbye.

drive

just how much can you handle? juggling work, school, and your social life (if you can squeeze what we call "life" in)? or is it that we choose to make work and school our life? hmm. just a thought to ponder. but come to think about it, we work and we go to school for many reasons. bills. a degree. necessities. i mean toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent, utilities... all add up. and having a good educational background helps a bit with work, but with that... you get to learn and be exposed to different ideas. so in a sense, we pay these huge student loans for a piece of paper and more knowledge.

as of lately, i'm finding myself at a crossroads. the work i have been doing for the past 3-4 years isn't the particular field i want to be in, but has served me a great learning experience as far as proper business etiquette and communication skills. i've found a sense of accomplishment in making a positive difference not only to the youth i've worked with but also the people i've come across with.

to be continued...
